Words are dynamite [Láilá]

Title: Words are dynamite
Fandom: Stand Still Stay Silent
Characters: Láilá
Rating: 0+
Length: 150 words
Summary: She doesn't know how they clear the land in Sweden, but here, she'll do it her way.
Other: Snip of something that I was going to expand later (and still might, some day). General idea is that Swedish-style Cleansing is not practised everywhere. Because it relies on the use of explosives, Swedish Cleansing isn't practical in areas like Kajaani, where explosives can't easily be produced locally, and imported materials need to be transported long distances upriver in small boats. Rather than demolition, Láilá and her Clearance team rely on a combination of magic and traditional controlled burning to get the job done.

Words are dynamite

Over the years, Láilá had come to not mind smoke. The scent of it, at least. From a distance.

As long as most of it stayed on the other side of the lake, that was all right.

She'd become good at keeping smoke off. Calling the wind, using magic to change its direction, ensuring that most of it wouldn't travel across the water, wouldn't move from the dead village to the living one.

She was good at containing fire, too. Keeping it where it was supposed to be. Weaving spells that ensured it wouldn't travel outside the areas where selected for burning, for clearing out.

How did they do it in Sweden? She wondered that, sometimes. How on earth could they cleanse anything properly without magic?

Well. It didn't matter. They could do it their way. But here, on the shores of her lake, she would do it her way.
