Good Morning
Hiraga had dozed off for a moment.
The wine, in part, was to blame. And Roberto's delicious supper. And the light that the candles cast around Roberto's apartment, and the comfort of his presence as they sat together in perfect familiarity.
The largest part to blame was Roberto's voice; those warm, rich tones as he talked at length about subjects outside of Hiraga's expertise, but which he cared about very much. It had been more than comfortable, more than comforting, and Hiraga wanted to hang on to his every word.
He'd assumed that he'd been sleeping for only a moment. But when Hiraga blinked open his eyes and saw thin sunlight steaming in through the windows, he knew that it had been quite a bit longer than that.
Oh dear.
He sat up on the couch. There was a blanket draped over him, and a pillow had been eased beneath his head.
From the kitchen came the sound of movement, and the scent of what could only be breakfast, and the low music of Roberto humming to himself.
A smile spilled over Hiraga's lips.
To wake up to something like this, to experience such a morning – he was truly blessed.
