Title: Heartfelt
Fandom: Hetalia
Characters/Pairing: Denmark/Norway
Rating: 0+
Length: 200 words
Summary: Sometimes, Norway sends Denmark's poetry back. But other times, he doesn't.
Other: Set some time during the 1700s. Based on a shared headcanon that Denmark used to write poetry for Norway. Done for HWD drabble game; prompt was "Hidden".
Heartfelt
Denmark hides his poetry under the mattress.
Well, not all of it. Just the personal stuff. The real, secret, special stuff. The stuff meant for – oh, hell, there's only one person it would be meant for, and it isn't like there's anybody who doesn't already know. But he feels the need to keep it carefully safe, anyway.
He sends it to him sometimes. Always slipped in alongside a personal letter that he would have sent regardless.
Sometimes, Norway sends the poems back, the verses marked with scathing comments in red ink. What a guy. Always a critic, but hey, it's just his way of showing he cares!
But other times, he doesn't send them back.
Denmark wonders what he does with those ones.
Sometimes, when they're staying together, spending time face to face, he thinks about asking. Nice and easy, all casual-like. Ask him if he liked the last one Denmark sent him, seeing as he never sent it back.
But he hasn't asked, not yet. Not much point. Norway's shy like that. Knowing him, he wouldn't give a straight answer.
Maybe he keeps them tucked away like secrets. Denmark likes to think he does.
Maybe it's best not to ask.
