Norway frowned, looking out from the fortress toward the ships in the harbour.
The VOC fleet sat heavy on the water, filled with fancies worth more than his mind could fathom.
The English had them pinned.
Do nothing, his king's orders said. Let the English take them. Aid them when you receive orders to do so. We're sharing it.
Good thing Denmark hadn't been around to see Norway's face when he read that message.
Norway knew how much that cargo was worth. Still.
Turn on the Dutch?
Even worse, trust the English? That thought made him sick to the teeth.
"What is your assessment of the situation?" Ahlefeldt asked, standing by his side.
Norway glanced to the General. Danish, certainly, but he did have some sense.
"No orders yet?"
"Not yet."
Well.
"Tell 'em the first to fire gets our cannons on them."
It was the fairest way, after all.
