Waiting
Another year, and still no news from Norway.
Iceland went to the shore. He tugged his cloak around himself against the wind, and looked as hard as he could.
He wasn't sure how long it had been since Norway had left, claiming things at home needed his attention. His brother had put him in the care of people who'd see to what he needed – but it wasn't the same, Iceland thought.
"I'll be back soon," Norway had told him, smiling.
When was 'soon'?
Maybe it would be today that he'd see that ship he was waiting for.
Or maybe tomorrow.
