I hold out my hand—

don’t be afraid.
We are nearly strangers
but I promise
I am steadfast.
The sun is bright today—
we can sit in my garden
and bask in the warmth
drink iced tea and
listen to the wren’s song.
When night falls
there is a room and
a bed with clean white sheets.
Go rest your tired eyes—
and if you dream
may you dream of peace.
