6 AM.
The alarm clock beeped. Then kept beeping.
Norway sat up in bed, rubbed his eyes, and turned it off. He looked to Iceland, who slept at his side, unmoving.
He gave him a little shove. No response.
He gave him a harder shove, at which Iceland rolled over a bit, said "Wsfgl", and promptly ignored him.
"Iceland. Wake up."
"Mnh."
Norway rolled his eyes and shoved at him again. "C'mon then. Rise 'n shine."
"Nooooo." Iceland pulled the covers up over his head and promptly curled up into a ball. Norway regarded him with vague amusement.
"What was that, then?"
"Ain't gonna'."
"That so."
"Mnh. Five more minutes."
Norway eyed the ball that was his brother. He was tempted to pull those covers off and push him right out of bed. In the end, he slipped out of bed instead, deciding he couldn't be bothered. "Fine," he said. "Fine. But if'n you ain't out've bed afore the coffee's brewed, we'll be havin' a Word, you hear?"
The ball under the covers was very, very silent. Norway decided to take it as a 'yes'. He nodded, glad he had made his point, then stepped into his slippers and went to put the coffee on.
