Coffee and Vodka
He kept the coin in his pocket. Old, far too old for one to carry it around like that. Worn smooth over the years, it did not look like much.
Dropped it into the mug, clinked as it hit the glass. Full until it could not be seen. Then full again until it revealed itself.
Went to the table. Slid across the table to his companion, who offered him the faintest smile and a mumbled thank-you. A glance in the mug at the coin, then a flicker of the eyes back to him – a knowing look. He knew it was the same one, always the same one, but he said nothing about it.
