Distractions
"You know, after work, we could-"
"No."
Hannu dips his head, ignores the arm that Joona drapes too-casually over his shoulder. Concentrates on the dough in his floured hands. Pays no attention to how close he is. Pretends he doesn't notice.
"Come on, you didn't even let me finish."
Joona's smiling. Hannu doesn't have to turn his head to know that he has that grin on his face. It's there in his voice, the sliver of a laugh.
"So what?"
"So, I think you'd like to hear it."
"Screw off. I'm busy. Don't you have something to do?"
Laughter again. This time, it's not silent. "Since when are you so responsible?"
"Since now." Hannu stares down at his work. Ignores him. Keeps ignoring him until he feels Joona's lips against his ear.
The warm breath fluttering there is enough to make his eyes widen, but what Joona says next makes him flush scarlet. His hands freeze and he listens to those low words, to that idea, letting him go on.
Then he hears another voice. It calls out from the other room, from the front, just loud enough to be heard over everything else. Hannu grabs that distraction, grounds himself with it. "Your sister's calling," he says, elbowing Joona away, blushing furiously. "You should see what she wants."
As Joona lets go, Hannu glances back at him. Catches sight of him smiling.
Hannu turns back to his work. Pretends nothing happened.
They'll see each other later. They both know it.
