For a while, the Bible that Hiraga had left with him sat on Lauren's desk, untouched.
If Hiraga thought he'd find anything useful in it, Lauren thought, he'd have to think again.
He'd picked it up just long enough to get it out of his way.
It stayed there until Lauren found himself wondering how the hell could someone so brilliant, so intelligent, capable of almost matching him – how someone like that could be so caught up in God.
It's only so I can understand him better, he thought as he flipped it open to a random page.
