Another Norwegian ship lost. All hands.
Norway glances over the newspaper article, knowing by now how it is. The words leave him feeling aching, raw.
They'd been close. Norway remembers him marvelling at the fjords, the mountains, speaking too formally about their beauty, always looking at Norway when he said it.
He'd turned up in Ålesund when the ruins were still smoking. An earnest offer of relief sent on a warship heavy with aid.
Now his U-boats are a plague on the North Sea.
He folds the newspaper, forces his hands to keep steady.
