I can see a ghost of you
a whisper lingering
in your bones
calling to me
in a voice rich as marrow.

I long to touch
that biding remnant
what I would give
to feel your hand
or melt in your arms
rendered senseless
by your breath-stealing kiss

I will not try
your blood-soaked hands
would crack my bones
your wind-chapped lips
would suck the marrow
devouring all
that is good in me
you would throw me aside
like so much rubbish.

These bones yearn still
but perhaps all I see
is corner-eye glimpses
in dim light
no more than shades
colouring snow violet
as the moon rises.
