Now we have vowed to share our suffering.



You know every inch of me. Those dew-kissed petal lips of yours touched all. Gliding down my back, you took in every cut blow burn and replaced them with your colours.

I understand your silence now. Shock seized me when I saw your ragged stem. Now it is clear: though you are battered, you grow still.

We agreed to pool together our grief.

After so long I am yours once more and you are mine, my angry weed, my stubborn field poppy. I stroked your leaves and you opened for me and in the night I loved you more than words can speak.

You whispered to me, this is the beginning.

Now your steady breath is reassuring. Sleep now, beloved.



Let the scars on our backs be the bone-meal feeding our roots.

Let us grow together, sharing our strength.

We will knit our fingers and reach skyward, straining toward the sun.
