She sits in her glass box
thinking of what he said
that boy, that young man
about the world outside
that world of colour.
She has learned it, studied it
breathing every word
drinking every sound
thinking of how it will be
when the time comes.
She waits, bides her time
takes in the sunbeams
shining in through windows
in her glass cell
and dreams of the day
she will feel air on her cheeks.
