Thaw
One step back, then another, and another, and he stumbles.
The tree trunk at his back jolts a sharp sound from him. It's Joona's hands that keep him from falling, grabbing him by the front and then pinning him there.
Mouth and lips and tongue and hands and –
Hannu closes his eyes, can smell forest. Fresh, cold, bright. It's spring, just barely. The wood has the same idea as the two of them; it hasn't shed its winter coat. Snow still lurks, skulks around, white patches in the shady areas where the sun doesn't reach, paper-thin ice over trickling water.
The damp sucks at their shoes just as he sucks at Joona's tongue, reaching up to grab his stupid hair and hold him there.
Joona's hands let go of him. Just for a moment. A second. Cold bare fingertips at his throat, at his chin, touching his face and holding it. Then down, trailing down in their fingerless gloves, a light touch. His jacket is open and his t-shirt is thin and Joona's hands are cold and Hannu shivers.
He breathes the greenness and tries to stand steadier than he feels. Trickling water. Birdsong. Bark and lichen and the scent of wet loam. Sturdy trunk against his back. Heavy hands settling on his hips.
Nothing else.
Aside from the forest and the snow and the birds, they are completely, absolutely alone.
Biting at Joona's mouth, he worries his lower lip until it's flushed rosehip-red. There are things he could say, but won't: that he would like this moment to last, that he would stay here for an hour, for a day, for longer. He won't say that because it would sound fucking stupid.
He wraps his fingers in long hair. Melts into the bark.
Maybe Joona will figure it out.
